Oh, Mr Lying Abbott, your pants are SO on fire!!

Take a look at this still from the latest Liberal Party ad.

What is wrong with this picture?

There can be no doubt that the words “illegal immigration” over an image of (brown-skinned) people on a typical asylum seeker boat is intended to suggest that such people arriving by boat are “illegal immigrants” and that it is illegal for them to attempt to enter Australia in this way.

Here’s what the Hotham Mission’s Asylum Seeker Project website says:

Myth: Asylum seekers are illegal

Fact: This is untrue. Under Australian Law and International Law a person is entitled to make an application for refugee asylum in another country when they allege they are escaping persecution. Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution”.

People who arrive on our shores without prior authorisation from Australia, with no documents, or false documents are not illegal. They are asylum seekers – a legal status under International Law. Many Asylum seekers are forced to leave their countries in haste and are unable to access appropriate documentation. In many cases oppressive authorities actively prevent normal migration processes from occurring. ‘Illegals’ are people who overstay their visas. The vast majority of these in Australia are from western countries, including 5,000 British tourists.

So there are many many more ACTUALLY illegal immigrants than there are asylum seekers, who are legal. The trouble is, many of the ACTUALLY illegal ones are British, or white and European. And you wouldn’t want to demonise them would you?

So the Liberal Party are not just liars. You are racists as well.

If the Liberal Party (and for that matter the Labor Party) were actually serious about “the integrity of our borders” they would be spending a lot more effort and money and political energy dealing with the far larger number of visa over-stayers who “take our jobs” and bring their germs. If only they weren’t white and mostly middle class and “our sort”. The worst part may be that you are willing to make political victims of the least powerful people, people who need our help the most.

See the problem is, Tony Lying Abbott, you might think you are just doing the dirty on the Labor Party but what you are really doing is lying to the Australian people. Why? Because you think they are stupid and will buy your lies and eat your bullshit. So you are not only an outright liar, Tony Abbott; you are arrogant with it.

But at least the cat is out of the bag and everyone can at last openly see how dishonest, despicable, cynical, and deeply un-Christian you really are in your “heart”. You are a straight out liar and there is no way you can hide it any longer.

Now the question is, will the Australian media have the guts and the intelligence and the integrity to call Tony Abbott and the Liberal Party on this direct lie?
