Hip! Hip! Boo!
News just in that evil incarnate John Yoo’s protégé, US Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, has resigned.
We wonder whether it will be for family reasons (Rove), financial reasons (Snow), to write his exculpatory book (Tenet) or for known unknown reasons (Rumsfeld). Perhaps it is because he needs time to work on his defence so that he can reduce his prison sentence. Will he plead insanity or criminal incompetence? Who will he blame?
We have just learnt this week that the execution factories across the US are gearing up for expedited grisly state murders, so perhaps Gonzalez – who was Grima Wormtongue to Bush’s Théoden, pushing him to the record for judicially killing as many fellow human beings as he possibly could as Governor of Texas – sees bright new opportunities opening up in his previous career (and first love).
Who is left of the Bush push? Um…just Cheney and Rice?
Apple Pie becomes apple crumble. What comes next? The collapse of the King’s castle, or a shocking attack on America which requires the exercise of Bush’s emergency powers and the suspension of the Constitution?
