Breaking News on Alberto Gonzalez

Gonzalez is caught straight-out lying. He is hurtling headlong into a Presidential Pardon. Now watch the White House spin. Their first go at it is that Gonzalez is indulging in sophisticated “linguistic parsing” (which I suppose lesser brains would find confusing but which is really telling the truth if only you had the intellect to understand it…)

Policymakers should also keep in mind that violations of Common Article 3 are “war crimes” for which everyone involved — potentially up to and including the President of the United States — may be tried in any of the other 193 countries that are parties to the conventions.
